My name is Carlita Wright. My daughter’s name is Isryia Wright. She is six years old an attends Clovis Grove elementary School located in Menasha Wisconsin. My child’s has two teachers Mrs. Gus & Mrs. Gifford. Two weeks ago my daughter told me about a third altercation she had with Mrs Gus. Isryia stated that she was sitting on the carpet during story time rocking back and forth.
Apparently Mrs. Gus was irritated from Isryia rocking(while sitting behind her), which caused her to kick Isryia in the back. I immediately went up to the school, and spoke with the principal. The principal said she was going to investigate the situation.
I never heard from the teacher nor the principal for 2 days. Isryia came home the following day saying that Mrs. Gus approached her asking her “why did she tell her mom that.” She then told my baby “everything she does for or to Isryia is out of love.” With this being the third incident with the same teacher, I was even more furious with her approaching my daughter while being investigated.
I went back up to the school and set up a meeting with Mrs. Giffer, the principal, the investigator from the school board, my mother Marilyn, and myself. Mrs. Gus wasn’t present for any of the meetings which is odd to me. My daughter told the investigator the story three times and hasn’t changed her story once. The school has switched her classroom and Mrs. Gus isn’t supposed to have any contact with Isryia while the situation is under investigation.
It has been two weeks since the investigation started, and I still haven’t heard from anyone!
I am reaching out to you today because I don’t want these incidents just to be swept under the rug. My daughter needs to know that it isn’t all right to be hit by any teacher or anybody in general. There are a handful of black kids in the school, and Isryia happens to be the only minority in her class. My daughter and all children need to know that kids do have a voice.

👑: This is very disturbing to hear. I will be looking into this. If this teacher has done this she needs to be investigated properly and certainly not be around any child if found guilty. Please share this and keep this family in your prayers.🙏🏾

This sounds like an utter crock. I’m sorry but I’d bet money that teacher used her foot to apply pressure to the girls back and said, “stop rocking”…. And I bet the child percieved it as a kick. Spreading these assumptions and accusations before the “investigation” in complete is exactly why teachers don’t want to teach anymore. Thanks to the internet and social media, they can never come back from an accusation even when proven false…. And bringing race into it is ridiculous. If the mom wants answers…. Go to the superintendent….. Or how about talking with the teacher directly. The truth always lies somewhere in the middle. However, this may be proven to be a he said/she said…. What if there’s no proof? Should the teacher be punished just because? This all seems to be a bit melodramatic.

Feet are meant for walking not putting on someone back. I guess using her hands would have been to difficult. That is nasty to put your dirty shoes on someone back. Period. Not excusable. I guess you have a preference for someone to put there dirty shoes on your back. If you are not don’t be okay with someone else doing it to someone else

Should we punish the teacher just because? The truth always lies somewhere in the middle and in this case we may never know. Seems to me putting the child in a other class is a good compromise…. But this whole thing seems a bit melodramatic.

My child brought a note home saying she had to spend the rest of her life in a box except Saturday and Sunday. The teacher taped a box around her desk without permission. Same week she came home and said, grandma the teacher said I like pushing peoples buttons, but people dont have buttons.
This teacher proceeded to tell me that my child had oppositional defiant disorder and she would have it her whole life. And even suggested medication. They seemed unconcerned. My calls were never returned either.
Fast forward to middle school and a student says, ” I’m going to pull down your pants and rape you.” To each student at a lunch table. It was brushed off as, ” well, it really wasnt said in her general direction.” Wait…..what? I dont care what way it was said!! Excuses all around. No calls back. My child was also harrassed over her medical record and belittled in front of other student. (Along with several other students of different races)
No calls back, as it could lead to some form of liability I am guessing. But not really sure. There are both good and bad teachers, but it seems that power has gotten out of hand imo.

The case went through social services, not handled by school district personnel, and was found to be untrue.

Does not surprise me about this little girl having issues within the school system, my children being of mixed race experinced issues in the Waushara school system. The mother needs to follow thru with the school board, school, and contact Wisconsin Family Ties based out of Madison. Another organization is CCF Children Come First, they will work with the parent to check into the school issues. Good Luck, do t let this drop, I agree all kids need to know it is wrong to put hands on or strike them.
