A TENNESSEE MAN WAS KILLED WHILE IN POLICE CUSTODY MARCH 25, 2019: ITS BEING REPORTED THAT A OFFICER SMOTHERED HIM TO DEATH WHILE HE WAS IN HANDCUFFS.

On March 25th a gentleman by the name of Sterling Higgins was reported deceased in the Obion County Jail .Mr Higgins was taken to jail for disturbing the peace at a gas station. Mr Higgins was being disruptive towards officers and the jail staff. Mr. Higgins was in handcuffs when an officer laid on top of him and smothered him. We have heard many different stories but this is the one that the sheriff department released. The community of Union City Tennessee is in an uproar this young man’s death is not justifiable.

Another Incident in September 2018 William Hawk an inmate was MURDERED while in custody of the LINCOLN COUNTY TN SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT. The Correction Officers reportly had an altercation with an inmate that was trying to escape however there is no proof of attempted escape. The altercation did occur. And a man,,a son, an uncle, a brother lost his life. The medical examiner concluded that inmates death to be a Homicide and death by asphyxiation. However the Grand Jury didn’t indict not one single corrections officer. Reportedly stating the officers did nothing wrong… This was not a fight. No other inmate was involved… Someone should be held responsible and give this family a little justice. And the whole Lincoln County Jail and COUNTY ADMINISTRATION should be shut down and investigated for multiple crimes including embezzlement, bribery, money laundering, Tax evasion, and something should be done for the people’s rights. Lincoln County has deprived it’s inmates of their amendment and constitutional rights. But most importantly the Right of Due Process.

That’s pretty pathetic for anyone to get on here and comment that his actions caused his death. He might have been combative, but hell what in the hell could he do after being handcuffed, murder someone I suppose. People just don’t have empathy for another’s circumstances that’s really sad and distasteful. This could have been anyone’s son or loved one. How dare you to even say such a thing T!!!

Sterling worked for me at one time. This man was full of life. He was always a gentleman and with a huge smile ALWAYS!!! Just because he might have been a lil combative, if that even happened, was not an excuse for a man to take his life. These police/CO’s are supposed to be trained to deal with this not kill a man/woman. If justice isn’t served for the family I pray that they get answers over this horrific MURDER! I pray that that officer gets what he deserves and to the Max. You people get on here and yes your entitled to your opinion but what if it were your child? I think you may see things a little differently and if you don’t well your sick! Fly high Sterling!!

This man broke the law he put him self in the situation an he was abusive to the officers. I wish you ppl would stop making efforts ery thing about race. Bad cops do. I come from a family of police officers. My granddads were good cops. Would take you home if you was to drunk to drive. The world is a different place now I know. but being brutal or dirty isn’t the way to get people to corporate.

My boyfriend was laying on the ground with his hands out in front of him while officers from the same police department hit and kicked him repeatedly. He was in handcuffs and they tased him over and over again while officers laughed. We have the entire thing on video and it is being ignored.
