Milwaukee 3rd district police officers shot a man following a foot pursuit that ended on a roof Thursday afternoon, August 31st 2017. The shooting itself was streamed live online by a eye witness.
19 year old Jerry Smith Jr was trying to get away from a incident where he was being attacked by several people near 29TH and Wisconsin. When police arrived on the scene they ended up following Smith onto a near by garage roof. Jerry was obeying orders headed towards the ground when officers opened fire. Jerry’s hands were in clear sight and had no weapon. Destiny Colvin who recorded cellphone video of the shooting. Screams “Why did they shoot him he was on the phone”.
Officials say the officers involved in this incident are from District 3. One is a 33-year-old male with three-and-a-half years of experience. A second officer is a 28-year-old male with one-and-a-half years of experience. Both have been allowed back on the job.
